Blackjack is the most popular table game in the whole world. It is found in bars, pizzerias, clubs, casinos, online casinos, etc. Lately, the online gambling business is outperforming the real casinos by offering the same RTP (return to player) as land-based casinos but the product is obviously easier to access online than by traveling to a land-based casino. Blackjack is believed to have been played as early as the early 1700’s in the regions around Spain. The rules varies all over the world, it all depends where and how you are playing. I’ll go into details further down in this article.
How to Play Blackjack
The game was invented in Spain, with the name twenty-one. The goal of the game is to get higher points than the dealer without exceeding 21. Place your stake(s) on the table and press “Deal”, doing so will give you 2 cards on each hand. Once your cards have been dealt, you have up to 4 options: Hit, Stand, Double or Split. Press Stand if you are happy with your cards or Hit if you would like another card. Pressing Double will give you 1 more card and doubles the bet amount for that hand. Split should only be used when you want to divide your hand into 2 new hands, Split is truly a splendid function if you find 2 Aces for example. However, the Double and Split functions can only be used in certain scenarios. Split can only be used when your hand consists of two cards with the same value. A few tables disallow you to Double after a split, which increase the edge of the casino by 0.12%.
Blackjack S17 or H17?
As a player, I can play S17 tables or H17 tables, but what’s the difference? It all comes down to cutting the “edge” of the casino. S17 Blackjack is when the dealer has to Stand on 17, while H17 is when the dealer Hit even on 17. Playing on a S17-table will decrease the edge of the casino by 0.2% which is a fortune at the end of the day. Many streams form a river together…
House Edge in Blackjack
I’m sure you already heard the phrase “the house always win”, and it’s true. However, you are the one who decide where and how to play Blackjack, online or not. The house (dealer) will benefit from having as many decks of cards as possible. Playing with a single deck will keep the house edge at 0.17%, 8 decks on the other hand will increase the dealer’s edge to 0.65%!
Enjoy Live Blackjack
You can enjoy Blackjack live too, through a Live Casino. Net-Entertainment and Evolution have Live casinos and they offer multiple versions of both live Roulette and live Blackjack to players from all around the world. The beauty of playing Blackjack live is that you can see a real dealer draw the cards from a real deck of cards. This makes the gambling experience soooo much better! Live Blackjack, yaahooo!
“Surrender is not an option!”
Well, it might be. Some blackjack tables will allow players to “Surrender”. Surrender is better than losing tho! You get half your bet back by surrendering but you forfeit all interest in the hand since you just folded it. Some blackjack games even have a “Dealer wins ties” function which is, to be frank, really shitty. However, the “Dealer wins ties” function is usually just found in charity casinos to help collect extra funds for the charity – which is the opposite of shitty, but still not an optimal function for the player.

Blackjack is one of the oldest existing table games and it's still the most popular table game. Blackjack can be played in many forms, through both RNG games & live casino. All differences in the rules also affect the "edge" of the house. Blackjack is a skill-based game, but only if you know the rules. Make sure to read up some before you play with real money.
